![]() MMC International Advisory Board. The Melbourne Mining Club today announces the establishment of anInternational Advisory Board with representatives in London and New York. The move reflects the ongoing success of the MMC’s international functions, especially the annual “MMC in London” dinner at Lord’s Cricket Ground, and of functions held in Shanghai and Beijing in recent years. MMC Chairman, Mr Richard Morrow, said, “Mining is a global game. Melbourne is a global hub for many facets of the resources sector – from education to exploration, financing, project development and management.” “The MMC brings to Melbourne the leaders of the global mining houses to speak at our forums in the historic Melbourne Town Hall. But we also have a reputation for showcasing the industry to the rest of the world.” “Establishment of this honorary board reflects the need for a presence in the world’s financial capitals and we are delighted to have appointed two well-known financial markets figures to represent the MMC outside Australia,” Mr Morrow said. Mr Phil Beard is one of the best known Australian stockbrokers in the City of London where he heads the institutional desk at Bell Potter Ltd. Phil was a financial journalist in Australia before becoming European business correspondent for The Australian and the Australian Financial Review in London. Before Bell Potter, Phil worked for Potts West Trumbull and County NatWest then as an MD with Citi Group. Mr Robert Kennedy is a corporate relations specialist with Columbus Circle Corporate in New York. He has a 30 year history working in the financial markets in Sydney, London and New York, where he has been headquartered for much of that time. He ran the Australian, Japanese and Asian equity sales operations in the US for BZW, now Barclays Capital. Before entering the securities industry Rob worked in financial journalism with the Mining Review section of the Australian Financial Review in Melbourne, as the Investment Editor of the Sydney Morning Herald and with the Financial Times of London and the South China Morning Post of Hong Kong. He holds the Series 7, 24 and 63 US securities licences. Phil and Rob have been long-term supporters of the club and have contributed to the success of our international activities over the past decade.
