What better showcase could you hope for than a victory podium on the Champs-Elysees with iconic monument the Arc de Triomphe framed against the Paris sky. That was the scene for four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome when, televised nationally across the US by the NBC Network, he accepted the Maillot Jeune at lunchtime on Sunday. And what a glowing endorsement for innovative sports breathing device, Turbine, which has featured regularly during the 23-day prime time American coverage of world cycling's premier event. Turbine was designed specifically for the sport and exercise market by Australian-listed medical technology company Rhinomed (RNO). Group CEO, Michael Johnson said: "Chris Froome is arguably the best cyclist in the world. Choosing to use the Turbine during the Tour is testament that this next-level technology can make a real difference to the way we breathe and compete." Beyond his long-standing use and support of Turbine, Froome is a leading Brand Ambassador of the device on behalf of Rhinomed. In the words of the champ himself: "Performance, endurance and recovery are critical whether competing at the Tour de France, the Olympics or other international races. I know the benefits that Turbine can bring. The biggest, for me, is in the time trial stages and the whole build up to the warm-ups. "It enables me to focus on my breathing, to get the maximum amount of airflow possible and really just to calm my nerves." This underlines studies during the development of the device that demonstrated an increase in oxygen flow by an average of 38%, a figure unmatched by other products in the space. As for its recovery attributes, Chris now his sights firmly on becoming the first British winner of the coveted Veulta a Espana which is staged over three weeks beginning on August 19th. But no doubt, at the back of his mind will be a return to Paris next July in an attempt to take the Yellow Jersey for the fifth time and join all-time record holders Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain and Jacques Anquetil. With perhaps a sixth to follow. *Disclosure. Rhinomed is a client of Columbus Circle Corporate, which is a shareholder of the company and has been know to use Turbine while gently harassing Sting at Flywheel classes.
